Dirt is the major source of danger in Out of Space. It makes players who touch it dirty, leaving them vulnerable to become a cocoon uppon a sencond contact with it. Important to note that a character playing solo can tough the dirt up to 3 times before becoming a cocoon.

Although aliens are the source of dirt, grabbing a stunned alien will not make the player dirty. Dirt may also come from abandoned food and from unpowered and unpopulated rooms.
